A new study presented by the Rural Health Network of South Central New York says people living in the country in Broome County are not enjoying the same services as their city cousins.

The study focused on Harpursville, Deposit, Windsor and Whitney Point school district areas and found a lack of access to health care and transportation.

The lack of transportation services has also been seen by groups that serve rural areas as a challenge to residents looking for work or needing to get to their jobs.

Rural Health Network officials say more issues need to be examined, but the initial report is a starting point.
