Reconstruction Starts On Binghamton’s Riverside Drive
A major reconstruction project is getting underway on the heavily-traveled Riverside Drive on the West Side of Binghamton.
City officials say the initial phase of the long-awaited job will be between Front and Beethoven streets.
The project includes replacement of water and sewer lines, along with curbs.
The work will be done by G. DeVincentis and Son Construction of Binghamton, which bid about $2.4 million for the project.
The initial phase is expected to be completed in November.
Reconstruction of the western section of Riverside Drive between Beethoven Street and the Johnson City village line is scheduled for next year.
Leroy Street will be used when traffic must be detoured off Riverside Drive. Motorists should expect delays while the work is underway.
