A Chenango County man is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal impersonation following a two vehicle crash with injuries on Route 12 in Oxford.

New York State Police say they responded to the report of the crash December 20 at 6:08 p.m.

Authorities say it’s believed 36 year old Christopher McCoy of Norwich was drunk when he drove into the back of a vehicle that was slowing down in traffic ahead of him.

The driver of the second vehicle, 54 year old Walter Pinney Junior of Oxford was taken to Wilson Hospital with cuts to his face and neck pain.

Troopers say they measured McCoy’s blood alcohol level of .18% and determined, after finger printing him, that he had given a false name to try to keep authorities from finding out he was wanted on a probation violation warrant in North Carolina.

McCoy was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 bail.
