Rivers in the Twin Tiers will be rising over the next couple of days as rain continues to fall over the region.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service at Greater Binghamton Airport say total rainfall amounts of one-and-a-half to two inches are likely. More than two inches of rain is possible in some areas.

The rainfall will occur over an extended time and is not expected to be enough to cause widespread flooding problems.

Sharp rises are likely on main stem rivers and minor flooding is possible in urban areas where rainfall rates are briefly heavy.

The forecast for the Binghamton area calls for showers and the possibility of occasionally heavy rain through Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with a high in the upper 70s.
