A Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania man is dead after being electrocuted while on the job in Harpursville August 26.

New York State Police say 39 year old Thomas Tarchak of Simpson was on a high-lift, taking elevated train bridge measurements shortly after 11 a.m. when the left came into contact with live New York State Electric and Gas power lines near the steel railroad bridge.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Harpursville Fire Department, local ambulance squads, NYSEG and Canadian Pacific Railroad Police.

The investigation is continuing.
