The New York State Department of Transportation says as long as weather allows, work will continue on the Prospect Mountain Project in the Town of Dickinson and City of Binghamton to convert Route 17 to interstate status.

DOT Regional Director Jack Williams says phase two of the project is about 14% complete.

Work has been underway on the highway that includes 17 and the Interstate 81 interchange for a few years.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2020.

The latest work is getting underway on the pavement at 81 North/Route 17 West at exit 3 for a new, long-term traffic pattern change.  Also Exit 4N for Port Dickinson on Interstate 81 North, State Route 17 West is being closed long-term for the construction of the interchange.  Detours are posted.
