The company that operates Price Chopper stores has announced plans to introduce a new name to its supermarkets.

The Golub Corporation, which has four Price Chopper locations in the Binghamton area, will start converting stores to the Market 32 brand.

The change will take several years to complete. The company says more than half of its 135 stores should be converted to Market 32 within five years.

Golub says it plans to spend more than $300 million in the first phase of the rebranding.

Company officials say stores will be modernized. They say the supermarkets also will offer new services and products.

Price Chopper stores now are located in Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Endicott and Owego. There was no immediate word from Golub officials at company headquarters in Schenectady as to when the local stores would be converted to Market 32.

The first three Market 32 stores will be in Clifton Park, New York; Wilton, New York; and Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
