Potholes continue to be a major nuisance and even a financial burden for motorists in the region.  Over the weekend, craters on Route 17 East near the Interstate 81 South exit reportedly popped the tires on over a dozen vehicles.

A big hole on Riverside Drive East, just over the Johnson City/ Binghamton line is causing drivers to move into the on-coming lane as a large barrel and cones have been placed in the middle of the east-bound lane.

The New York State Department of Transportation worked on the holes on the highway over the weekend and more repairs were expected today.

Public works officials around the region are filling in potholes on a regular basis, concentrating on the worst cases on the most traveled roads first.
