A Port Crane man is accused of driving at one person and hitting another with his vehicle following an argument at 10:51 p.m. April 18 on State Highway 41 in the Town of Smithville in Chenango County.

New York State Police say 37 year old Christopher Ramey allegedly became angry after an argument and spun his tires backing out of a driveway, hitting three mailboxes.  He then reportedly drove up and down Route 41, making u-turns and swerving across the road.  Troopers say Ramey apparently drove at one person, who jumped out of the way but hit another person. That person was treated at Wilson Hospital for hip pain.

Ramey fled the scene before troopers arrived but was tracked down at his home in Port Crane.

Ramey is charged with felony assault, felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

He was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $250,000 bail.
