Authorities say they are working to locate a suspect in connection with a reported early-morning robbery at a convenience store in the Town of Dickinson.

The heist happened around 6:15 a.m. at the Mirabito store at Downs Avenue and Market Street.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a man displayed what appeared to be a black handgun. The store clerk, who was the only other person in the business at the time, secured himself in a back room.

Detective Sergeant Michael Clapp said it appeared about four packs of cigarettes were taken in the incident. He said the robber apparently did not get any cash.

The man left the store property on foot. Clapp said investigators had not determined whether he had an accomplice.

The suspect was described as white; about five feet, eight inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing dark pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt with a red shirt underneath and sunglasses. His face was covered with a dark-colored mask or scarf.

People with information about the robbery may contact investigators at 607.778.2053.
