A 36-year-old man was charged with weapon possession after he allegedly threatened a woman with a baseball bat.

Authorities say David Swansbrough of Newfield was arrested early Monday.

According to state police, troopers were called to investigate a dispute at a home on School Street in the Town of Groton.

Investigators say they determined that during a physical dispute, Swansbrough threatened a woman while holding a bat. He also was accused of damaging a bedroom door.

In addition to the felony weapon possession count, Swansbrough faces misdemeanor charges of menacing and criminal mischief.

Swansbrough was arraigned in Groton town court and sent to Tompkins County Jail on $7,500 bail.
