For the second time in less than two weeks, authorities are investigating the sudden death of a Binghamton University student.

According to a statement posted Monday on the university website, senior Albert Cruz was found collapsed in his suite in a dorm on the Vestal campus on Sunday.

The announcement from university President Harvey Stenger indicated Cruz died shortly afterward at a hospital.

Stenger's statement said there was "no indication of foul play" and university police are awaiting reports from a medical examiner.

The statement indicated Cruz was an English major from the Bronx.

The latest death follows a fatal drug overdose that claimed the life of 21-year-old student Luke Stempa on October 31. Stempa's body was found in in his U-Club apartment at University Plaza on the Vestal Parkway the following day.

Stenger's statement said those who wish to speak to a counselor may contact the University Counseling Center at 607.777.2772. Those needing assistance in an emergency should call 911.
