Police: Deposit Man Killed While Working on Lift Device
The body of a Broome County man may not have been found for more than 24 hours after he had been crushed to death while working at a Deposit printing plant.
Authorities say 66-year-old William Sethmann of Deposit died as a result of the incident at Courier Printing Corporation on Laurel Bank Avenue.
According to New York State Police, the incident was a "fatal industrial accident."
Investigators say Sethmann was working as an independent contractor and handyman who had a separate office in the Courier Printing building. The incident was reported around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the man's body was found crushed underneath the hydraulic loading dock. They say he apparently had been "working on the lift when it failed sometime between Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning."
Investigators say there were no signs of foul play.
Courier Printing provides commercial printing services. It also prints The Deposit Courier newspaper.
