Investigators in Cortland County say a man faces DWI and other charges after he allegedly wrecked a pickup truck he stole.

Authorities say 55-year-old Fred Thalheimer of Scott was accused of entering a neighbor's home on Creek Road. He allegedly took the keys to a truck and then drove the vehicle a short distance before striking a utility pole guide cable.

Police say they found Thalheimer at his home a short time later.

Thalheimer was treated at Cortland Regional Medical Center for injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff's Department, Thalheimer was charged with burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He also was charged with criminal mischief, petit larceny and leaving the scene of an accident.
