Bart Bryant captured the Dick's Sporting Goods Open Championship yesterday winning by one stroke over Russ Cochran and Corey Pavin.  It was the first Champions Tour victory for Bryant who became eligible for the Tour when he turned 50 last November and his first win since the Tour Championship in 2005.

Bryant overcame major problems with his left wrist requiring two operations and keeping him sidelined from competitive events for close to three years. With the win he becomes the 1,000th winner on the Champions Tour.

Total prize money for the Tournament is $1.8 million.  The winner's check is worth $270,000.  Past B C Open Champions with New York State ties who competed this weekend in the Dick's Open included Jeff Sluman (Rochester) who finished tied for 21st at 8-under par, Joey Sindelar (Horseheads) who finished in a tie for 30th at 6-under par and Wayne Levi (New Hartford) who ended up 8-over par.
