A man who was driving in the town of Dickinson was arrested on vehicle and drug-related charges after a license plate reader alerted a state trooper to a suspended registration.

Authorities say 49-year-old Bert Dorfman of Binghamton was charged with possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Dorfman also faces counts of operating without insurance and with a suspended registration.

Police say Dorfman possessed a crack pipe with cocaine residue.

Dorfman was ordered to appear in Dickinson town court October 8.
