Broome County Land Bank is allocating over $500,000 to help clear the former Big Lots site on Binghamton's North Side.

The Board voted to move forward the funding January 20.

The City in July announced a deal to get a grocery store on the site.  The neighborhood has been without a grocery store since 1996.

Most of the Land Bank funds will go into the environmental and structural studies at the Big Lots building.

$250,000 is to pay for demolition of seven foreclosed properties nearby.
