Investigators hope images of the man they believe killed a Binghamton University student will help them track down the suspect.

Authorities say a man repeatedly stabbed 19-year-old Joao Souza in Windham Hall, a dorm in the southeast corner of the town of Vestal campus.

The attack happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Souza was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Binghamton University Police Chief Timothy Faughnan Monday afternoon released two photos from surveillance cameras that show a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The lower portion of his face was concealed by what appeared to be a white cloth.

People with information about the suspect or other aspects of the stabbing may contact police investigators at 607.777.2393.

Faughnan said state police and forest rangers were assisting in the investigation, which has included searches of various areas on and off campus.

Police were still looking for the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.

University representatives say they continue to believe that the attack on Souza was not a random act.
