Pharsalia Dairy Farm Loses Cows in Fire

Another Southern Tier farm suffers a big loss in a fire.  A massive blaze destroyed a large barn at the Balsam View Dairy Farm on Newton Road in Pharsalia in Chenango County May 25.

The blaze was reported shortly after 4 p.m.

Close to six dozen head of cattle was lost in the fire, which raged for hours and drew firefighters from over a half dozen departments.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The conflagration was so intense, WBNG TV broadcast images that showed the smoke actually appearing on radar.

No humans were injured in the fire.
