Pennsylvania Prepares for New Area Code

Some residents in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania will have to dial the area code before making any calls starting in a few days.

As the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission prepares to introduce a 272 area code, customers in the 570 code will have to dial the code and phone number starting September 21.

The 570 area code replaced the 717 area code two decades ago and covers Northeastern and parts of Central Pennsylvania.
