PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions that had been put in place January 12 due to snow and slippery driving conditions.

The speed limit was reduced to 45 miles per hour on several roadways in Pennsylvania including Interstates 80, 81, 84 and 380.

Various forms of precipitation overspread Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of New York beginning overnight and continuing into the afternoon.  Temperatures hovered between 28 and 34 degrees through much of the day.

Temperatures were predicted to drop to single digits in the area overnight January 12 with winds gusting up to 26 miles per hour making wind chill readings of below zero possible.  NYSDOT and PennDOT officials say they will continue to treat roadways until all precipitation has ended.
