The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center has a lot of exciting programs and events planned for the upcoming weeks.

Speaking on the October 15 edition of the weekly, local public affairs show, Southern Tier Close Up, education coordinator Roy Williams talks about some of them, including the start of Pegasus classes to promote the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum.

Williams also drops a few factoid tidbits like that October and November are the months with the highest number of clear nights ideal for skywatching.

Kopernik will soon be using a new 14" telescope and be able to take better celestial photos.

Williams talks about Girl Power and an upcoming display of an inflatable observatory at Barnes and Nobel in Vestal.

More information about Kopernik can be found at their website: Kopernik.org.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
