Oxford Woman Charged in Shovel Attack

A Chenango County woman has been accused of a attacking a person with a shovel.

Authorities say 21-year-old Trista Welch of Oxford has been charged with felony assault in connection with Sunday morning's incident.

According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Welch is said to have struck the other person with the shovel. The impact caused the shovel to break.

In addition to assault, Welch was charged with criminal mischief.

Welch was arraigned in Oxford town court and released on her own recognizance.
