A Chenango County man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 39-year-old town of Norwich woman.

Authorities say 48-year-old William Danielson was arraigned in Norwich town court December 30.

According to Chenango County district attorney Joseph McBride, Danielson appeared before town judge James Fox, who scheduled a felony hearing for noon January 2.

Investigators say Lucinda Knoll was assaulted in the driveway of her Bourbon Street home around 6:45 a.m. December 27. Officials say Danielson was Knoll's former boyfriend.

Knoll, who sustained head injuries, died December 29 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

Chenango County sheriff's deputies earlier said Danielson was charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery.

McBride said he expects the case will be presented to a grand jury in January.

The investigation is continuing and Sheriff’s officials are asking anyone in the area of the Maple Grove Trailer Park at around 6 a.m. December 27 who may have seen any suspicious activity to call (607) 337-1921 or (607) 337-1863.
