Update: Victim Dies. Oxford Man Accused of Attempted Murder

An Oxford man is being held on felony attempted murder and robbery charges following an assault on a woman in the Town of Norwich but the charges are expected to be upgraded with word that the victim has passed away.

Chenango County Sheriff’s officials were called at around 6:45 a.m. December 27 with a report that 39 year old Lucinda Knoll was assaulted by her former boyfriend in the driveway of her home on Bourbon Street.

48 year old William Danielson was arrested later in the day and sent to the Chenango County Jail without bail.

Officials say Knoll was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of a serious head injury.

Chenango County Sheriff's officials now say Knoll has died of her injuries.

The investigation is continuing and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who was in the area of the Maple Grove Trailer Park at around 6 a.m. December 27, who may have seen any suspicious activity, to call (607) 337-1921 or (607) 337-1863.
