Owego School Union Treasurer Accused of Embezzlement

The treasurer for the Owego Apalachin school district’s employee’s association is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the union. 

Tioga County Sheriff’s officials say 45 year old Amy Wales of Owego is charged with felony grand larceny.  She’s accused of embezzling $5,165 June of last year and June of this year.

Wales also works as a clerk and typist for the Owego Apalachin athletics department.

Sheriff’s officials say Wales' arrest was the result of a three-month long investigation.

Wales has been employed by the OA school district for fifteen years.

Wales was released on her own recognizance following her arraignment.
