Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Months after police took a Tioga County couple into custody in a botched drug investigation, customers of their home quilting shop continue to discuss the bizarre incident.

Steven Dunlap was targeted by Broome County Sheriff's Office investigators who said there was "reasonable cause to believe" they would find drugs and firearms in his town of Owego home.

Dunlap and his wife, Cindy, were taken into custody separately on the night of February 11.

Investigators from Broome and Tioga counties searched their home and found nothing illegal.

Cindy Dunlap today said she and her husband never received an apology or an explanation from anyone responsible for their night of terror.

Dunlap said she received messages from people across the United States and Canada as word of the erroneous raid spread.

These days, her quilting shop customers still bring up the strange events of that night last winter.

Dunlap said last week, one customer told her a sheriff's car was parked on the roadway around the corner from her residence. The customer informed her "he's watching the house."

After what occurred in February, Dunlap said she wondered why he was there. It turned out he was running radar in a speed enforcement detail.

Dunlap said most people understood the police made a mistake and didn't have any real evidence she and her husband had done anything wrong.

But, she said, her mother still believes the police. Dunlap said she's told her mom "the police lied." She said her mother doesn't believe her. She said her mom trusts the police when they said they investigated before they executed the search warrants... and found nothing.
