It's now been more than a year since Big Macs have been sold near the village of Owego.

The McDonald's on Route 17C sold its last burgers and fries on September 7, 2011. Then the red-and-yellow eatery was closed when it was inundated by rapidly-rising waters from the nearby Susquehanna River.

The damaged restaurant building was demolished early last month.

Construction on a new restaurant is expected to start soon. The rebuilt business should open sometime this fall.

Until then, people seeking Big Macs and other similar fare will be able to travel to the McDonald's in Apalachin, about five miles away.
