A western New York man was being held as a suspect in connection with a reported armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in the village of Owego.

Authorities say 62-year-old John Malowsky of Attica was taken into custody shortly after Wednesday night's heist at the store, which is located at Main and Park streets.

Police say Malowsky was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of injuries sustained while struggling with officers.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, when a deputy arrived at the CVS Pharmacy, a man was leaving the store carrying a bag. The man would not stop when directed to do so by the deputy.

Investigators say when a second deputy arrived, the man displayed a knife and threatened the deputies.

The man ran away from the store. He was apprehended a few blocks away near North Avenue and Temple Street by sheriff's deputies and an Owego police officer.

Authorities say Malowsky may also be a suspect in connection with robberies in Corning, Big Flats and Batavia.
