Owego Could Dissolve Village Police Force

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file[[/caption]The Village of Owego is looking deeper into possibly doing away with the municipal police department.

The Village Board has approved authorizing the Village Attorney to draw up a measure that could dissolve the department.  The legislation could be placed before lawmakers August 21.

Some residents attending the latest board meeting said they were concerned about response times should the Village be covered only by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
