Overdose Victim Revived After Crash
A woman is recovering after authorities revived her from an overdose following a crash on Airport Road at CFJ Boulevard at around 12:30 p.m. August 6.
Broome County Sheriff’s officials say the driver of one of the vehicles in a two-car crash fled the scene while his 32 year old passenger was found not breathing in the vehicle. Narcan was used to revive her.
Deputies say they found 14 packets of heroin and hypodermic needles belonging to the woman in the car while the driver allegedly tried to hide 9 packets of heroin that was found by a New York State Trooper in front of the Mirabito Gas Station on Downs Avenue.
33 year old John Dirig of Long Eddy is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and felony evidence tampering as well as failing to stop at a red light, which caused the crash, leaving the scene of an accident and driving an uninspected vehicle.
The woman is also facing charges and additional charges could be filed against Dirig.
The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.
