23-year-old Alan Outman of Johnson City has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the New Year's Day death of a former high school classmate.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, Outman entered the plea in county court Wednesday in connection with the death of 21-year-old David Fillers of the town of Dickinson.

Prosecutors say Outman admitted he forcibly sexually abused Fillers and then intentionally caused his death on January 1.

Fillers had been celebrating New Year's Eve with friends in downtown Binghamton when he met Outman.

The body of Fillers was discovered in a creek bed near the Vestal Quality Inn.

Investigators say Outman and Fillers knew each other from when they had attended Chenango Valley High School.

Outman is being held in Broome County Jail until his sentencing, which has been scheduled for November 16.

Prosecutors say Outman is to be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison under the plea deal.
