Oktoberfest Is Here Again

One of the area's biggest celebrations is coming up this weekend.  Oktoberfest at Most Holy Rosary in Maine, NY ushers in the fall season in festive fashion.  Members of Most Holy Rosary and members of the surrounding community band together to put on quite a celebration.

Oktoberfest begins Friday night with Old Friends performing under the big tent.  On Saturday entertainment begins at 2:00 PM with Messy Truth followed by Egomaniacs.  Then on Sunday tradition continues with the BC Celtic Pipe & Drum Corps beginning at 10:30 AM.  Pasty White & Doublewide are on stage from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM.

People return from out of state to visit the three-day event.  Church members who have moved away are drawn back home for the fun AND great food.  The signature specialty of Oktoberfest is their clam chowder.  People eat it there and then take containers of it home with them to continue their celebration.

Along with the great food visitors will find a bake sale, basket raffle, "Pennies From Heaven" Supper Raffle, children's games and a country store to browse through.  Oktoberfest goes til 3:00 PM Sunday.
