Tuesday, January 12 marked the last time President Obama travels to Capitol Hill to address both houses of Congress for his annual State of the Union address. Aides the speech focused mainly on the president's optimistic outlook about America's future, along with a look back at his administration's achievements.

Multiple topics that have dominated the various presidential debates held thus far, including immigration, gun violence, ISIS and the state of the economy were included in the address as the President stayed away from directly addressing the upcoming election.

It is Obama's final year in office, and with each party's electoral campaigns in full swing heading into next month's Iowa caucuses. In a bit of a jab at some Republican rhetoric on the campaign trail, the President said there had been a lot of talk about the enemy getting stronger and America becoming weaker.  Obama loudly proclaimed America the most powerful nation on earth.
