The Macy's store is expected to be closed in a few months. The struggling chain said the Broome County location has 58 workers.

Macy's on Wednesday announced plans to close 68 of its 730 stores.

The 140,000-square-foot Oakdale Mall location opened in 2006.

Last August, when Macy's announced it was closing 100 stores, a spokeswoman for the Johnson City mall said "as far as we know, they're here to stay." The mall representative at that time noted Macy's owned the building housing the store.

Macy's said the locations just identified for closing were included in the total number of stores of stores referenced in last summer's announcement.

In January 2016, Macy's revealed plans to shut down 40 poorly-performing stores.

The Cincinnati-based retailer expects its new cost-cutting effort will result in savings of about $550 million this year.

The Macy's store in the Arnot Mall in Horseheads was closed last spring. The company also shut down stores in Kingston, Buffalo and Williamsville last year.
