A large crowd turned out last night to enjoy ice cream and cake and support the O. L. Davis Volunteer Fire Department in Endwell.  The Fire Department's annual Ice Cream Social has become one of the community's highlights of summer.

Dozens of volunteers staffed ticket sales tables, dipped ice cream, made sure enough cake was available for those who came out for the event and directed traffic on Country Club Road.  The Ice Cream Social brought people together from not only the nearby community but from all over the area.  Some walked from their homes to enjoy the evening.

The O. L. Davis Fire Department hosts this event as one of its major fund-risers of the year.  Hundreds of people gather to thank the volunteer fire-fighters for the work they do in safe-guarding the community. In many cases visitors meet other friends or family members to enjoy an outing and to cool off from the heat of the summer sun.
