Broome County Sheriff’s officials say they responded to a medical emergency call January 13 on Riverside Drive in Johnson City and found two adults unresponsive, possibly due to an overdose and accused a Johnson City man of endangering the welfare of a child.

36 year old Eric Purdy and another man were found initially unresponsive in separate rooms.

Purdy was awakened without medical intervention but the other man required a dose of the heroin reversal drug, Narcan.

Deputies say during their investigation they found Purdy was home with his three children ranging in age from 9 to 13.

Authorities say one of the children called their mother for help when Purdy became unresponsive.

He was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and ordered to appear in Town of Union Court at a later date.
