It appears New York State Electric and Gas may be backing away from plans to develop a big power line that would cut through parts of the Southern Tier.

Several property owners have said they received a notice from NYSEG saying the project is undergoing a new review given the latest market conditions.

The 345 kilovolt line is planned to run through the Town of Maine and cut through Cortland and Onondaga Counties.

The utility has plans to complete its reassessment by the end of this year.
