Norwich Woman Accused of Driving Drunk With 5 Year Old in the Car
A Chenango County woman is being charged under New York's Leandra’s law for allegedly driving drunk with a child in the vehicle.
New York State Police say 31 year old Emily Bixby of Norwich was arrested February 18 after Troopers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Colesville Road in the Town of Colesville.
Officials say Bixby apparently drove her vehicle with a five year old passenger off the roadway and was stuck in the snow.
Authorities say while Bixby refused to submit to a breath test, investigators determined she had been driving while intoxicated.
She was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child and was sent to the Broome county Jail on $1,500 bail.
The child was turned over to a family member.
