A Chenango County man is accused of attempting to murder a sheriff's deputy in August.

Authorities say 41 year old Patrick Ford II of Norwich was arrested on an attempted murder charge September 27 after being released from University Hospital in Syracuse where he had been receiving treatment after being shot by a deputy August 30th.

Investigators say Ford had fired on a sheriff's deputy and New York State trooper in the  Town of Pitcher after crashing into a pole on route 23.

Officials say Ford had his young son in his vehicle at the time. Police were able to remove the boy from the scene uninjured.

Ford also allegedly threatened residents in the area with a gun before being shot by police.

The Chenango County District Attorney is reviewing the case and further charges are pending.
