North Country Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Child Porn

In a shocking example of not knowing just who can be trusted, a Northern New York Man, employed as an officer at the City of Ogdensburg Police Department, will serve 15 years in Federal Prison for sexually exploiting a child.

U.S. Attorney Grant Jaquith and FBI Special Agent Vadim Thomas say 58 year old Harry McCarthy of Ogdensburg, in Saint Lawrence County, admitted in 2013 and 2014, he used a minor to produce child pornography while he was employed at the police department.

Authorities say McCarthy will also serve a lifetime term of supervised release after he gets out of prison. The former police officer must also pay a $10,000 fine and register as a sex offender.
