A North Carolina man is dead following a crash involving two tractor trailers, a large diesel truck and a sport utility vehicle in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

State Police say a Dodge Durango driven by 27 year old Andrew Stevens of Camp LeJune, a tractor trailer driven by Erick Heffner of Towanda and a tractor trailer driven by Bradley Powers of Montrose were all stopped at the intersection of State Route 3004 and State Route 29 in Springville Township at 4:22 p.m. January 2 when an International Truck driven by Arlan Elmer Elvis Taft of Tioga, Pennsylvania approached on a downhill and was unable to stop.

Taft’s truck hit Stevens’ SUV, propelling it into Heffner’s trailer. Heffner’s tractor trailer then hit Powers’ rig from behind.

Both Taft’s truck and Stevens’ SUV caught fire.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers were not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation.
