No Tax Increase for Broome County Property Owners

WNBF News Photo/Roger Neel

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston delievered her proposed budget for 2013 to the County Legislature yesterday.  In that budget Preston has proposed no increase in property taxes for next year.  The County Executive says she made a promise when she was elected that she would hold the line on tax increases.  A large portion of  Broome County’s budget is determined by New York State mandates making any local decisions even more critical.  Preston says those mandates and previously negotiated public employee contracts are areas where there are pre-determined costs to Broome or any other County.
