Jury selection continues with no one seated so far to hear testimony in the case of a Florida man accused of running over and killing a New York State Police officer on Interstate 81 between Chenango Bridge and Castle Creek in 2014.

On the first day of interviews in the Almond Upton murder trial, about half of the 150 potential jurors summoned said they had some knowledge of the case.

Upton is accused of accelerating his truck to 93 miles per hour and purposely swerving into Trooper Christopher Skinner, who was conducting a routine traffic stop on the highway, just north of Hinman’s Corners.

Upton was arrested, naked in a field near the scene and later said Jesus and the Devil told him to kill Skinner. He then told reporters at his arraignment that he didn’t know what happened and he must have been in a time warp.

Much of the testimony in the trial is expected to focus on Upton's mental health.

Jurors are being interviewed individually instead of in groups as Judge Joe Cawley works to seat an unbiased panel.
