Daytime work in recent weeks has occasionally slowed traffic near the site of the future Binghamton University Smart Energy Research and Development Facility.

The night operations allowed workers to finish the paving at the Murray Hill Road intersection while minimizing disruptions to motorists.

Flaggers assisted drivers who wanted to pass through the work zone while the paving was underway.

Although the intersection paving work has been completed, lane markings and other finishing touches are to be done in the days ahead.

Work on the $70 million Smart Energy complex began two years ago. The 114,000-square-foot facility is expected to open next year.
