The 35th Annual Newark Valley Apple Festival was held last weekend at the Bement-Billings Farmstead.  Visitors braved some rain showers on Saturday with better weather on Sunday.  The event is the biggest fund-raiser of the year for the Newark Valley Historical Society.

This has been a good apple growing season and those who attended the Festival got to enjoy some delicious apple treats.  Our WNBF broadcast location was right next to the apple butter cooking display. We got to see how apple butter is made and had a chance to sample the results after it was made.  Just down from there in the same row was homemade apple pie and apple crisp.  There were also plenty of places to buy apples to take home and to enjoy fresh cider as well.

Along with the apple treats were various other food vendors.  The Apple Festival gives people a chance to journey back in time.  You could see a blacksmith at work, a team of horses ready to go to work, long gun shooting, quilt-making and lots more.  There were plenty of things to do for the whole family.  Proceeds raised go for various projects associated with the Newark Valley Historical Society.
