Civil Air Patrol Lieutenant Colonel Rich Bohman and 1st Lieutenant David Hektor call the work of members of the NY292 squadron a best-kept secret, unintentionally.

Speaking on the January 18 edition of the local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Bohman and Hektor highlight a long list of activities in the region spanning decades and ranging from air reconnaissance, assessing disaster damage, search and rescue operations to performing color guard duty at sporting events like Binghamton University basketball, New York Jets football and races at the Watkins Glen International Speedway.

Lt. Col. Bohman also talks about the beginnings of the Civil Air Patrol dating back to World War I.

More information on the local squadron and how people can join can be found at www.ny292.org.
