The New York State Association of Counties is praising the Governor's tourism summit this week.

NYSAC deputy director Mark LaVigne says the session is important for working to encourage over 50 million visitors that come to New York City to also explore other areas of New York State.

The Governor announced the commitment of nearly $60 million for tourism in the state.

Some specific projects include a new 'I Love New York'  marketing campaign downstate to promote upstate destinations, airline and airport partnerships, the formation of a sports and special events commission, new welcome centers and a new I love New York lesbian, gay bisexual and transgener niche tourism initiative.
