The New York State Police are beefing up patrols, looking for speeders and aggressive drivers, through August 17.

Authorities say the patrols on highways around the state will also include more unmarked vehicles than normally utilized.

According to the state police, 1/3 of all fatal crashes involve speeding.

The enforcement effort started August 10th.
