Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]New York State Police say they expect to charge a SUNY Broome Community College student with unlawfully fleeing authorities following a high-speed chase on Interstate 81, followed by a crash near exit 5 and a foot chase through Otsiningo Park.

Authorities say a vehicle failed to comply with troopers at 5:27 p.m. November 1 and sped off.  The officer broke off the chase when the speed became too fast and then found the car had crashed.

The suspect was chased through the park but managed to flee back across the highway to the BCC campus where troopers say another Hispanic male picked him up and possibly took him to a hospital for evaluation.

Authorities say the suspect didn’t have a full driver license and had apparently been operating with a learner’s permit.

A woman was in the car with him but she was not detained and there was no indication that she had suffered any injury.
